Venus ASC line
Attractive and at ease. The Venus ASC line (Ascendant, often written AC) runs through the places where Venus was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born.

What the Venus ASC line means
Venus rising makes you more attractive, more graceful and more inclined to enjoy yourself. People find you easy to like, romance comes more readily, and your taste and manners improve. It is a lovely line for love and for feeling good in your body. Keep an eye on spending and on saying yes to everything.
Venus rising works on you first. On this line people tend to look better and feel better, dress with more care and enjoy themselves more, and others pick up on it: strangers are friendlier, flirting comes naturally, first impressions go your way.
Because the Ascendant is the self, it's a good line for a holiday, a sabbatical or a fresh start after a rough couple of years. Romance often follows, less because the line is about partnership than because you're easier company.
Spending, eating, drinking and saying yes come easily here too. It's a lovely place to put yourself back together; whether it's a place to get hard things done depends on what else runs nearby.
Where it runs
The Venus ASC line is a curve, not a straight line. It crosses the equator 90° of longitude west of your Venus MC line. Away from the equator it swings towards the IC line in the hemisphere Venus was on that day (north or south of the celestial equator) and towards the MC line in the other, and it ends where it meets them. Everywhere on it, Venus was rising when you were born.
Venus's declination, how far north or south of the celestial equator it sits, decides where its rising and setting lines stop: at 90° of latitude minus the declination. For births between 1930 and 2025 it ran from 27.3° S to 27.8° N, so in some charts those lines end as close to the equator as about 62° of latitude, north or south. Beyond that point Venus didn't rise or set at all on the day you were born, while the MC and IC lines carry on to the poles.
Distance and birth time
A line is a band, not a wall. Zenith Map's scores count a line in full on it, about 60% at 250 km, about 14% at 500 km and not at all beyond 1,000 km. Astrocartographers draw the edge in different places; the methodology page gives the reasoning for this one.
Every line in a chart moves west by a quarter of a degree of longitude for each minute later the birth: about 28 km at the equator and 14 km at 60° latitude. A time rounded to the nearest quarter hour can put your Venus ASC line up to about 200 km from where it's drawn, which is why the map draws bands when you say the time is approximate.
Questions
Is the Venus ASC line good for love?
For attraction, yes. It changes how you come across: warmer, looser, more open. For a lasting relationship most astrocartographers would point you to the Venus DSC line instead, since that one's about who you meet rather than how you look.
What does being on your Venus ASC line feel like?
In the textbook reading you feel more attractive and more at ease in your body, with a bigger appetite for pleasure, and other people find you charming and easy to like.
Venus ASC or Venus MC line: which is better?
They answer different questions. The ASC line is personal: how you look, feel and carry yourself day to day. The MC is public: how you're seen at work. Go to the first for rest and romance, the second for a career that trades on appeal.
