Moon IC line
The deepest home. The Moon IC line (Imum Coeli) runs through the places where Moon was at the bottom of its daily arc when you were born.

What the Moon IC line means
This is the classic line for feeling at home. Roots go down fast, domestic life carries real weight, and memories formed here stay with you. Many people find a lasting base or reconnect with family under the Moon on the IC. The shadow is retreat: it can be so comfortable that ambition goes quiet.
In practice the Moon IC shows in small things before big ones. The baker knows your order, you sleep through the night, you cook more, and a rented flat starts to feel like yours within a month. It's a line of routine more than of events, which is why a short visit tends to undersell it.
Family is the other half. The old texts make the Moon the mother and the IC the place you come from, so this is where astrocartographers expect family ties to come into focus: you may move nearer relatives, start a household of your own or gather friends who fill the same place. If the line runs through a country your parents or grandparents left, the tradition reads that as a kind of return.
Read the natal Moon before you sign a lease. A Moon in Cancer or Taurus settles here with something like relief. A Moon in Aries or Sagittarius may love the place and still want to be off every spring, and a Moon squared by Saturn can make home the place where duties pile up.
Hotels flatten the Moon. A fortnight in a flat with a kitchen, a local shop and an ordinary working week says more about a Moon IC town than a month of sightseeing.
Where it runs
The Moon IC line runs from pole to pole too, half a world away from the Moon MC line. Everywhere on it, Moon was on the meridian at the bottom of its daily arc when you were born.
Distance and birth time
A line is a band, not a wall. Zenith Map's scores count a line in full on it, about 60% at 250 km, about 14% at 500 km and not at all beyond 1,000 km. Astrocartographers draw the edge in different places; the methodology page gives the reasoning for this one.
Every line in a chart moves west by a quarter of a degree of longitude for each minute later the birth: about 28 km at the equator and 14 km at 60° latitude. A time rounded to the nearest quarter hour can put your Moon IC line up to about 200 km from where it's drawn, which is why the map draws bands when you say the time is approximate.
Questions
What does living on your Moon IC line feel like?
Settled, in the classic reading. Routines form quickly, sleep and meals find a rhythm, and the place starts to feel like yours within weeks, not years. Family and the house itself matter more than usual. The trade-off astrocartographers mention is comfort: it can be so easy to stay in that plans outside the house get shelved.
Is the Moon IC line good for buying a house?
Astrocartography reads it as one of the best lines for a home you mean to keep, a place where roots go down quickly and family life carries weight. It says nothing about prices, mortgages or whether a purchase is a sound investment. Those are questions for the market and an adviser, not for the map.
How close to your Moon IC line do you need to live?
Closer is stronger, but a line is a band and not a wall. Zenith Map counts a line at full weight on it, about 60% at 250 km, about 14% at 500 km and not at all beyond 1,000 km, so a town 200 km away still keeps more than half of the line's effect.
