What the Jupiter IC line means
With Jupiter beneath you, the private life expands. Larger homes, generous family, a sense of being provided for, and often property or land that appreciates. It suits raising a family and building a comfortable base from which to range outward. Complacency is the risk; comfort here can make the wider world feel optional.
On the Jupiter IC line households grow. The spare room becomes a guest room that's always booked, relatives stay longer, the garden gets an orchard. In the tradition the IC is also land, parents and the later part of life, which is why the line is a favourite for a family base, for retiring and for the house people want their grandchildren to remember.
The risk is a house that eats the year. More space means more to fill, heat and look after, and an open door stretches to cousins, lodgers and friends between flats until the place you moved to for quiet has someone on the sofa most weekends.
Where it runs
The Jupiter IC line runs from pole to pole too, half a world away from the Jupiter MC line. Everywhere on it, Jupiter was on the meridian at the bottom of its daily arc when you were born.
Distance and birth time
A line is a band, not a wall. Zenith Map's scores count a line in full on it, about 60% at 250 km, about 14% at 500 km and not at all beyond 1,000 km. Astrocartographers draw the edge in different places; the methodology page gives the reasoning for this one.
Every line in a chart moves west by a quarter of a degree of longitude for each minute later the birth: about 28 km at the equator and 14 km at 60° latitude. A time rounded to the nearest quarter hour can put your Jupiter IC line up to about 200 km from where it's drawn, which is why the map draws bands when you say the time is approximate.
Questions
Is the Jupiter IC line good for raising a family?
Astrocartographers often suggest it for that, reading it as a generous household, room to spread out and a family that pulls together. Excess and complacency are the risks the tradition names: a home that takes more upkeep than planned, and a comfortable life that makes the world outside feel optional.
Is a Jupiter IC or a Venus IC line better for a home?
Both are kind lines to live on, in different ways. Venus IC means beauty and calm: a home that feels right and a softer family life. Jupiter IC means space and plenty: a bigger household, more people through the door, a sense of being provided for. Venus favours a quiet life, Jupiter a full one.
